What kind of evidence do atheist want for God?

There are many ways. An appearance by God him/herself would be great. As I recall many people saw Jesus rising to heaven when the resurrection happened. Something like that would be pretty convincing. If god is shy then at least perform a verifiable miracle at the humble request of believers and followers. For instance find an amputee , a war hero ( bonus if he or she is religious), and have the most faithful and dedicated to God pray for that person's miraculous regrowth of the lost limb fully in tact. That would convince anyone I think. Otherwise believers are forced into that familiar realm of apologetics and making up reasons why their god will never reveal direct evidence of him/herself. It's rather unproductive.

As with any other hypothesis, it is the responsibility of its proponents rather than everyone else to determine what evidence would be a valid test of the hypothesis. A worthwhile hypothesis makes predictions about things which have not yet been observed, but which should be (and others which should not) if the hypothesis is true. And which is not more easily explained by something already known to exist.

As no god-believer has EVER made such a prediction (claiming that something which was already observed is best explained by your story is not a prediction), I am still waiting to be convinced.

Oh, direct evidence for (the existance of) God really is too much to ask. We atheists will be quite satisfied with anything miraculous, it doesn't even have to be particularly impressive, just demonstrably undeniably a miracle.

For me, some televangelist getting struck by a bolt of lightning under a clear sky (just when he's telling people to give generously) would suffice.

For me simply being able to see that the spiritual realm and the supernatural actually are real. I would be perfectly happy with an angel walking through my wall when a couple of other people are with me. So I can verify I'm not hallucinating. Then having a conversation with the angel or some spiritual being for a short while. It would also be good if he caused the wall of my living room to disappear and I see into heaven. Something along those lines would convince me it was real. That's all it would take.

What kind of evidence do Atheist want for God ? I like definitions ,,EVIDENCE defined as A thing or set of things HELPFUL in forming a conclusion or a judgement . That is basically what Theist present to potential followers or converts . Evidence by itself does not indicate if the laundry list presented is Truth or false ..You can just as easily present me with false thing or assumptions , or comparisons , but it does not indicate it is FACT . or truth . We would like PROOF In court both sides present their Evidence but its PROOF that decides and wins the case . Proof defined as evidence SUFFICIENT to establish something as TRUE . to present your deity in form , and measurement to establish actual existence in REALITY ..Because you chose to claim the supernatural exist does not verify it exist . its an assumption a concept a thought not established to be fact nor true . The said powers of your deity to be demonstrated creating a earth. sun, moon planets , and repeated while the world watches .. and to speak out loud so we all could hear him at once the whole world .lets aim for 10 am April 22th that is the day before "Openly Secular day " that should be interesting it wont happen so we will get all your questioning followers to become secular ..thanks for the question

Why would I care about evidence for God? Are you looking for evidence for Santa?

Imaginary beings are all in the same category; the fact that you happen to believe one actually exists outside your thoughts doesn't change that.

God came into this world in form of a man, Jesus Christ who had even power over death, resurecting dead people back to life.

atheists still reject God although they have seen God in person even resurecting the dead. today nothing would change if God was again in front of them an resurecting a dead.

the point is not about what evidence they would want to see, the point is that they dont want evidence for God, nothing you can do about it, because these folks are gog gomer and what they are wont change, till they are in he// and then gone.

if you are a Christian too, your duty and my duty is to protect all us Christians from them, for example as the russian orthodox do know, which is why their gog gomer propanda tv goes balistic against Russia.

When churches were predominantly powerful, Galileo and Copernicus came out with their respective SCIENTIFIC discoveries, and were jailed, cause they didnt believe the false theory of their time. Then, a short time after, calculus was invented. And now, look around you. This was in the span of not long. Most discoveries were made when people put down religion and focused on reality. 700 years before galileo and copernicus, essentially nothing changed. But look at what we've achieved in the short span afterwards. Get your head out of the clouds and face reality.

The first person to produce a single tiny little piece of verifiable evidence for any god will become world famous and mega rich!

Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.

The bible is what is called "Faction” A fictional story set in a factual time and place. Thus the time, place and real historical characters are all correct but the fictional characters and stories are not!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!

There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!

Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!

At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?

Christianity is an invention of the Italians and that is why it came from the Holy ROMAN Catholic church!

Please realize that those claims for the Old historians are worthless since they were not even born until long after everyone in the stories would have been so long dead!

Josephus AD 37 – AD 100

Tacitus AD 56 – AD 120

Suetonius - 69 – 130 AD

Pliny the Younger, 61 AD – 112 AD

Justin Martyr (Saint Justin) AD103–165 AD

Lucian - AD 120 -180 AD but he was hostile to Christianity and openly mocked it.

Pamphilius AD 240-309 AD

Eusebius AD 263 – 339 AD

Photius AD 877 – 886 AD

Thallus - But there are no actual record of him except a fragment of writing which mentions the sack of Troy [109 BC] Showing that he was clearly not alive in biblical times.

Some even try to use Seneca. 4 BCE – 65 CE but as a Stoic Philosopher he opposed religion yet made not a single mention of a Jesus or Christianity!

Even funnier is trying to claim Celsus AD ? – 177 AD Who said that Jesus was a Jew who’se mother was a poor Jewish girl whose husband, who was a carpenter, drove her away because of her adultery with a Roman soldier named Panthera. She gave birth to an illegitimate child named Jesus. In Egypt, Jesus became learned in sorcery and upon his return presented himself as a god.

I don't think that it is god that Atheists have a problem with - but more so with a particular religion.

Most realize that something created all of this but it may not be the god that some claim as theirs.

They may believe more so in nature as a more understandable god.

We all seem to believe in nature, it is more visible.
